River Shores Chiropractic

Please allow me the opportunity to introduce myself.  I feel that it is important for my patients to hear my personal story about the power of Chiropractic.

As a little girl growing up in Plymouth, WI I told everyone that I wanted to be a Doctor, a pediatrician to be exact.  Even then I knew that I would spend my life helping people with their healthcare needs.  I was fascinated by the world of science and spent countless hours reading about the human body.  Every time I visited our family Medical Doctor I would tell him about my aspirations to become his colleague one day.

Then at the age of 12, I had an accident that changed my life forever; I fell about 15 feet from the top floor of a barn onto a concrete slab.  I could not move or walk after the accident and my Dad had to carry me to the car and then to a wheelchair outside of the Emergency Room.  The Medical Doctor told me I had broken a bone in my spine and pointed to the area on the x-ray.  All of the other spinal bones were square while the one I had broken was now wedge shaped.  I was amazed, but in far too much pain to go through my usual talk with the Doctor.  He gave me some pain killers and anti-inflammatory drugs and told my Dad I would be “fine” with the assistance of the drugs.

The next few weeks were absolutely horrible as I experienced excruciating pain every single day.  The drugs the Doctor had prescribed didn’t help the pain, but they also made me so drowsy I had trouble staying awake at school.  I was a very dedicated student, so this was absolutely unacceptable.  Then after one exceptionally bad day my Mom decided to take me to the Chiropractor.  After a few adjustments I started to feel better and within a few weeks I was pain free.  This of course was amazing to me- but even more amazing was the care I received from my Chiropractor.  At each adjustment she would ask me how I felt and listen to what I had to say.  At the age of 12, this was a big deal!  She was so compassionate and kind and made me feel so safe under her care.

It was at that point that I decided I would become a Doctor of Chiropractic.  I knew that if I could just help one person the way that I had been helped, it would be worth it.  Now, many years later, I am so very excited to finally have that opportunity.  I look forward to seeing you as a patient at River Shores Chiropractic.
