Why We Are Passionate About Helping Children

It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.

children playing in our officeToday the health of our children is at the forefront of every parent, teacher, and health provider’s mind. But even with children’s health being our top priority, there are still concerning statistics released every year.

Currently, 1 in every 6 children in the U.S. between the ages of 2–8 has been diagnosed with a mental, behavioral, or developmental disorder.2 There are 6.4 million American children between the ages of 4-17 who have been diagnosed with ADHD.3 And childhood obesity rates continue to rise and are now at 18.5%.1

These stats are just one of the many reasons that all of us here at River Shores Chiropractic are so passionate about seeing children in our office.

Despite our community reputation, we do see grown-ups as well! But there’s not a day that goes by without our office being filled with laughing, running, happy, healthy kids.

At River Shores Chiropractic, we see kids coming in for a wide array of reasons. Overall wellness support, help with immune systems, headaches, sleep problems, anxiety, sports-related injuries and focus issues. Our primary goal is to get their nervous system functioning at its very best which sets them up for a brighter future. We cannot remove the everyday stressors in a child’s life, but we can help their body better adapt to those stressors.

The health improvements we see when children are under our care is motivation enough, but the changes we witness in family dynamics also fuels our passion. Having a child that struggles with any health concern can add a lot of stress to a family, and we’ve seen many times how hard it can be to navigate those difficult waters. At River Shores Chiropractic, we do not take that responsibility lightly and are extremely honored to serve every child and parent that walks through our doors.

For the following families, chiropractic was an integral piece to their child’s wellness:

“By 3 WEEKS we could see a difference in Charlotte. She was walking straighter, she wasn’t falling every time she stood up, her spirits were much happier, her diapers were more full. The two-year-old she is now is way different from the two-year-old she was before we came to River Shores Chiropractic.”

“The changes I saw in him immediately had me convinced that this was the care that I wanted my family to continue to receive. Not only has his anxiety improved, but his sleep is no longer interrupted by nightmares, he has better control of his emotions, and even some of his digestive struggles have improved.”

“Her posture improved, but she also bounced back quickly after a concussion, is sleeping better, and has more overall flexibility! She has been empowered to be more aware of her own body and is more in tune with her health, which has made a difference on and off the ice (as a figure skater).”

“The amount that he gets sick is dramatically less and when he does get sick it takes a fraction of the time that it used to, to get healthy. I can never thank River Shores Chiropractic enough for giving my son back his childhood; a childhood that he can act like a child should. Not stuck at home sick, but out making friends, going to school, enjoying parties and holidays. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!”

We all have our own personal reasons for our passion for helping children and many of you may have heard our stories before. But you may not know that we have a combined 24 years of experience caring for kids. Roughly 40% of the patients we see are pediatric and we are constantly striving to be at our very best— to help your children live at their very best.

Putting our WHY into words can be difficult, but our biggest motivator is knowing that children are the future, and their nervous systems need to be functioning at their maximum potential to have their best life possible. Healthy children grow into healthy adults, and healthy habits are developed at a young age.

To all of our parents: thank you for allowing us to be a part of your child’s health journey. By seeking out natural options to maximize your family’s quality of life, you are teaching your children the power of proactive health one day at a time.

Please take a moment to pat yourself on the back and remember that you are giving your child such a gift and we are here rooting you on from the sidelines!
